MONGOLIAN CONTORTION CENTER

Through the Mongolian Contortion Center, master teacher Serchmaa Byamba maintains the classic training technique passed down from her teacher, but encourages her students to own the movements themselves and create their own style. As a world-renowned performer trained by the founder of contemporary contortion, Serchmaa brings both technique and a perspective on living that she passes on. She feels the greatest thing she can give students is not just flexibility, but a positive change in their life and attitude towards living it.

She also believes contortion is something that can physically benefit anyone, that can be practiced safely and easily, and should be accessible to everyone who is inspired and interested by it. The techniques passed from her teacher are beneficial to all kinds of people with all kinds of goals.

PEOPLE'S CIRCUS THEATER

Our mission is to create circus theatre performances that speak to our most basic experience of being human. People are at the center of everything we do: the stories we tell, the audiences we serve, and the collaborating artists.

  • Amongst our audiences, we seek to build community, increase empathy, and provide a safe space for experiencing and processing deep, personal emotions.
  • We are committed to representing and celebrating the diversity of humankind.
  • We tell everyday stories of universal human experiences through the extraordinary and multi-faceted skills of human artists.
  • We believe in preserving the dignity of all people and are committed to a sustainable approach to arts creation and production. This includes working towards a living wage for our artists while prioritizing their emotional, physical, and mental health.
