LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

At Circus Center, we understand Land Acknowledgement as a transformative act meant to remind us that we work, live, and play on Native Lands. This act also reminds us of the colonial past and present that we must continue to address and confront. We stand in solidarity with local Indigenous communities. We practice Land Acknowledgement to promote greater public consciousness of Native sovereignty and cultural rights, and to amplify indigenous voices.

Circus Center acknowledges that we occupy Yelamu, the ancestral and unceded territories of the Ramaytush Ohlone people. We further acknowledge that the greater Bay Area is the ancestral territory of the Miwok, Yokuts, and Patwin, as well as other Ohlone peoples.  As the Indigenous protectors of this land and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost, nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place.

We recognize that every member of the Circus Center community has, and continues to benefit from, the use and occupation of this land. We offer our gratitude and our respect to their local elders.

GETTING HERE

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

From North of San Francisco take Hwy 101 across the Golden Gate Bridge. Take the 19th street exit to Irving, take a right on Irving, take your first right on 20th and another right on Lincoln Ave.  Stay to the right at 2nd ave to remain on Lincoln which becomes Frederick. We are on the right just past Arguello.

From South of San Francisco take Hwy 101 to Hwy 280.  Stay left on Hwy 280 towards CA 1/Junipero Serra Blvd.  Slight left at 19th Ave, stay on 19th until Lincoln Ave. Take a right onto Lincoln Ave.  Stay to the right at 2nd ave to remain on Lincoln which becomes Frederick. We are on the right just past Arguello.

From the East Bay take Hwy 80 to the US 101/Golden Gate Bridge Exit. Stay left to get on Octavia Blvd. Stay on Octavia until the forced left turn onto Fell St. Stay right on fell until the slight right exit to turn on Stanyan St.  Turn left on Stanyan St, turn right on Frederick St.  We are on the left just before Arguello (don’t be confused by AcroSports, their building matches ours and you will see it before you get to us).

ACCESSIBILITY

Our building is not completely wheelchair accessible, as we are an historic building (2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design). Please call 415-759-8123 in advance to learn more.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Public transit is the best way to get to Circus Center!

• N-Judah: To the Carl & Hillway stop (outbound from Civic Center or downtown, inbound from sunset), then walk down through Parkview Commons
• 7 Bus: To the Frederick & Arguello stop (outbound from Civic Center or downtown, inbound from sunset)
• The 6, 33, and 43 bus lines also stop a short walk from Circus Center.

PARKING

Street parking is tough around Circus Center. There are three pay parking lots nearby:

• ABC Parking Lot (Frederick and Stanyan, entrance on Stanyan). First hour is $3.00, with a maximum daily fee of $20.

• 500 Parnassus (entrance on Irving Street, just east of Third Avenue). Parking is $3.75 an hour, with a maximum fee of $30 for up to 24 hours. The garage is open 24 hours daily.

• 350 Parnassus. Open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The fee is $4 an hour, with a maximum daily fee of $22.
